Gettysburg Photo Gallery

In August 2009, we spent an all too short two and half days touring Gettysburg PA. Of course, Gettysburg is well known as one of the most famous battlegrounds of the Amercian Civil War. The battle was fought July 1-3, 1863 in and around the town of Gettysburg. This battle, with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War, is often described as the war's turning point.

The town itself is very picturesque but the main points of interest are: We had planned to spend an hour or two doing a self guided tour of the battlefield. We ended up spending an entire day on the tour! The Museum and Visitor Center was fascinating. We spent so much time there that they turned off the lights to get us out of the building at closing time.
