Port Douglas Photo Gallery

The third part of our 2009 trip was spent in Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation which are both located in the north of Queensland, Australia.

While in Port Douglas, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment at Bay Villas Resort. It was mid level accommodation but was very clean, well maintained and included everything that we needed.

Port Douglas is an upscale "tourist town" albeit with all the typical t-shirt shops and restaurants. As such, it is particularly neat, well groomed and maintained. The beaches in this part of Australia are extremely beautiful but swimming is a risky affair due to dangerous jellyfish. Some of the pictures below, provide more detail.

We also drove through the rain forest to Cape Tribulation where we participated in one of the items on our "bucket list" - zip-lining. They called it "Jungle Surfing". The drive to Cape Tribulation was an "experience". The roads were narrow, winding and climbed up and then down steep mountains. They also passed by beautiful seaside scenery.
