Washington Photo Gallery

In August 2009, we visited Washington DC. The motivation for the trip was to see a football game between the Washington Redskins and our favourite team the New England Patriots. The game was an experience that we wouldn't have missed but we concluded that it is much more enjoyable watching the games at home in the comfort of our own living room!

However, we took the opportunity to tour some of Washington's many attractions. While there, we toured:
  • The Capitol Building
  • The White House visitor center. (We couldn't arrange a tour of the White House)
  • Arlington National Cemetery
  • Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
  • Smithsonian American History Museum
  • Smithsonian Natural History Museum
  • Many of the monuments both on our own as well as on an evening guided tour
Washington is a beautiful city and we could easily have spent a couple of weeks and not seen all of the attractions! As beautiful as it is, we highly recommend taxis and subway as a means of travel. While driving on two occasions, we could see where we wanted to go but couldn't get there due to one way streets in the wrong direction or streets dead ended at blocking expressways. Yes! It was a little frustrating!
