After living at
Foster Bay Villas
for a few months, we decided that we really needed to get a home directly on
Seven Mile Beach.
Nancy did a lot of searching and found a good deal at Silver
Sands Condominiums. These units were normally rented by the week to tourists.
However, we were able to get a good deal on a monthly rate for the off-season.
This turned out to be one of the best decisions of our stay in Cayman. We could wake up in the morning and have our breakfast looking out over the Caribbean. After work and on our days off, we could lounge on the powder white beach with a pina colada in our hand. (Well, maybe two or three!) The condo was also located beside one of the best snorkelling beaches on the island - Cemetery Reef. (so called because it is in front of the cemetary) We spent many hours leisurely snorkeling this reef. See the picture below for a typical afternoon. However, all good things must come to an end. At the beginning of the high season, we either had to start paying "tourist" rates or find a more reasonable home. After a somewhat frustrating search, we found our next home at Poinsettia Condominiums.  |
